Who's On First?

Mood: Mellow
Music: Drops Of Jupiter, Train

I made two decisions today: one, I didn't like the name of my blog, and two, I shouldn't create and name blogs when I'm feeling dramatic and have been drinking wine.

Literary update: I have two queries out there awaiting a response (also known as having my heart stomped into itty bitty pieces, charbroiled, and fed to the dog which feasts on my self esteem... but I digress).

There are different schools of thought on the query process. Some believe you should paper the town with queries (all to agents appropriate for your work, natch) and wait it out. Others believe you should chop your agent wishlist into pieces and query only one, two, or a few at a time. The latter allows you to incorporate any feedback you are lucky to receive into a revamped query letter and/or manuscript.

I decided to go with the piecemeal approach. I'm not in a hurry. My second manuscript is rapidly becoming an obsession, and this morning I ventured over to my old desktop and rooted around, and found thirteen other stories/manuscripts I'd left for dead. Some of them were good, and now that I've found the wherewithall to complete long format fiction, I'll be resurrecting them.

Plus - even if I am never published, I know a soul or two who will humor me and read my stuff anyway, so if I am harboring a teensy tiny wish for an audience, it has already been granted.

On a personal note, I'm feeling much better today than yesterday. Child, not as sick. I didn't argue with the husband today. Grandmother is in good spirits, and everyone drove the speed limit, at least.

Plus, I had some damn good chocolate.
